3. 1850 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): can't find Andrew, but he was born three days after the official enumeration date, so even if his parents' household was enumerated, and if the enumerator was following the rules, Andrew should have been omitted from the enumeration. There was no state or federal census of the region that would, in a few years, become Woodbury Co., IA.

4. 1860 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): can't find Andrew, but he is said to have been back in Denmark at this time. There are no HANSONs/HANSENs in Woodbury Co., IA. Samuel MAXWELL (æ 31, b. TN) and wife, Martha (æ 31, b. VA), are living in Cedar Co., MO (p. 130), with their children.
