R1b is the most common haplogroup in western Europe (see frequency distribution maps), so it is not surprising that it is a common haplogroup in the project.  It is the group believed to have re-populated Europe from an Iberian refugium when the last glacial ice sheet retreated about 10-12,000 years ago. 
Western Atlantic Modal Haplotype — WAMH

Of the many haplotypes represented within R1b, the most common 12-marker haplotype is called the "Western Atlantic Modal Haplotype."  In the results tables below, the R1b modal haplotypes are highlighted in cyan and are used as standards against which to compare our R1b members.  The modal value for each marker is taken independently; no one individual is modal for all values, so no one actually has this entire haplotype.  FTDNA members whose 12-marker haplotype matches one of the four most common 12-marker R1b haplotypes will find they have a WAMH logo on their member page. 
Twenty-eight project members are Haplogroup R1b; they fall into 11 subclades and 24 families.

This individual was tested at Ancestry-DNA.  Data were adjusted using these conversion factors, adapted from the Ysearch Conversion Page:  DYS441, subtract 1; DYS442, subtract 5; GATA-H4, subtract 11; Y-GATA-A10, subtract 2.
He bears the Western Atlantic Modal Haplotype, so he would be designated WAMH by FTDNA.  At Ysearch, he has hundreds of 12/12 matches, but no match above 16/16. 
 
Ysearch values are not entirely comparable with FTDNA values for the "advanced" markers.  To make Ysearch values comparable with results reported by FTDNA or Ancestry, you need to add 2 to DYS463.  In addition, Scott incorrectly converted DYS452 by subtracting 19, which brings it in line with some standards, but should not be done when entering data at Ysearch because FTDNA(DNA-FP/GRC) reports the high value, as does Ancestry.
